Conspiracy theorists devote a lot of time to pushing the thesis that U.S. #Africa Command exists to override African states' sovereignty and endlessly talking of U.S. "#military expansion in Africa." While that is tantalizing click-bait, the reality is far less sexy, much more mundane.  

Nonetheless, the South African based Mail & Guardian newspaper ran an article by Nick #Turse which, while containing new info (mostly from interviews with senior officers), crafts a narrative to imply that #AFRICOM is on the move and taking over Africa. Not true folks. Watch this video for context.
